Currently, it is becoming obvious that the accumulation of knowledge itself has lost its former value, therefore, the task of developing the needs and skills of a person is put forward not only to independently extract and update knowledge, but also to carry out this process continuously throughout life. The effectiveness of distance learning largely lies in the fact that students have the opportunity to work with educational materials in a mode and volume that suits them. At the same time, the weaknesses of distance learning are manifested in the lack of contact work between the teacher and the trainees, and hence the educational impact, in the development of motivation and self-discipline among students necessary for distance learning. The article presents the results of a sociological survey of teachers and students on the positive and negative sides of distance learning, the purpose of which was to study the attitude of teachers and students to distance learning, highlighting the positive and negative sides when working in a distance format, identifying possible problems and difficulties in the work of a teacher and a student.
